Nine Year Old Applies For Job with Nasa [watch]

There’s a job opening at NASA as a Planetary Protection Officer (will explain what this does in a minute), and nine-year-old Jack Davis thinks he’s the man for the job.

Jack said, “I may be nine, but I think I would be fit for the job. One of the reasons is my sister says I am an alien. Also I have seen almost all of the space movies and alien movies I can see.” The youngin’ added that he’s great at video games and hopes to expand his knowledge of space by watching “Men in Black.” And as an added bonus, he said, since he’s young, he can learn to think like an alien.

NASA’s Planetary Science Director Jim Green responded to the job app, saying the job is super cool, and is all about protecting earth from tiny microbes when samples are brought back from the moon, asteroids and Mars. He told Jack to study hard, and hopefully they’ll cross paths at NASA in the future.

While the Planetary Protection Officer’s job will probably go to a more experienced candidate, Green said he loves the opportunity to encourage interest in the space program to young people like Davis, hoping they will become part of the next generation of explorers.
